Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Here you will find tips on how I create my pieces, what I look for in pieces and my thought process. You will go along on my journeys to antique shops, flea markets, home improvement and more. We will look at house decor trends, mood boards and there is sure to be some random stuff along the way. I hope you enjoy following along!

Spring has sprung! Time to shop!

Spring has sprung! Time to shop!

Well, could you ever sell it rag and bone?
Bring out your junk and we'll give it a home
A broken trumpet or a telephone
Ah, come on, ah, come on, ah, come on
Come on and give it to me ….

Any other big White Stripes fans out there?!?!

Spring is finally showing its face around here and with that let the shopping season begin. Flea markets, bazaars, yard sales and everything in between will start popping up if they haven’t already. I know a lot of the heavy hitters have already made Facebook events months ago so let’s discuss some of my favorites and I would love to hear about any I’m missing out on.

If you live in Massachusetts, the biggest Flea Market by far has to be Brimfield Antique Flea Market in Brimfield, MA. If you are not familiar with Brimfield it only occurs 3 times a year, May, July and September, for a week at a time. It is so massive I have yet to make it all the way from one end to the other in a day.  Your best bet is to hit it early on a Thursday and plan to be there the entire day, bring your walking shoes. Brimfield should not be missed, you will not regret it.

Todd Farm in Rowley, MA is one of my favorites. They run a flea market every Sunday from spring through fall (check their Facebook page for opening day info), and it is by far one of my favorites. It has a Brimfield feel in the way it’s set up but on a significantly smaller scale and it’s dog friendly! Not to mention the picturesque ride to Rowley on a Sunday morning is always an added bonus.

Elephant Trunk….. Any big Flea Market Flip fans out there? Elephant trunk is one of their main shopping destinations though I have not made it there yet myself. It is on my must see list for this year and with such a long season (April to December), it shouldn’t be too hard to find time to get down there. Trip to CT anyone?

Vintage Market Days (Eastern, MA), Pro.Found Vintage Market (Lancaster, MA), Harvard Flea Market (Harvard MA), and Vintage Bazaar New England (Amesbury MA, & Portland, ME) are several new names popping up in the last year or so for me though they have been around a while. They are all currently all on my schedule to hit up. With ones like these it can be hard to hit them all as they are limited runs (a week or shorter) and only occur a few times a year, just like Brimfield, but you may find better deals as they are not as high on the popularity map.

Yard sales, yard sales yard sales. Who doesn’t love a great yard sale? I keep an eye on Facebook Market Place year round but as spring cleaning starts people will start purging on a major scale. I find the best place to find out about yard sales is Marketplace. Many times you can get a sneak peek to see if they are selling things that strike your fancy and map out your drive to hit them all up.

So share your secrets with me. What are your must see places? What am I missing out on?
